Skillful representation of stylization and realism!
Technically speaking I would call this an experimental 'drawing' (and with your permission I would like to use it to analyze with my students), because its basic expressive device is line, in collaboration with other important principle of aesthetic order - color. This line encompasses central motive but leads the composition out of the frame, which excites the eye of the viewer in dynamical movement. Cold, profoundly harmonized colors are bringing attention back to center of composition and furthermore, to the detail. Stylized shading and anatomy in monochrome values are contrast to that movement and again, are working with dynamic of the peripheral parts in making overall expression of the piece.
Perspective of the portrait itself is slightly shifted, emphasized in rhythmic play of eyebrow bones and lips (also dispersive-convex relation of those volumes) continuing to liquefaction of the bottom part.
This extraordinary harmony of morphological detail is reason for this piece to be an experimental treat, bringing drawing features and painting features together.
